i seem to have a problem in the start up folder, which only relates to the
    following

    HKCUsoftwaremicrosoftwindowsNTcurrent versionwindows: run
    and
    HKCUsoftwaremicrosoftwindowsNTcurrent versionwindows: load

in the startup and command colum there are two “Blobs” although both rows
are ticked to start i think that there is a problem.
can any one suggest a way to resolve this ????

A fairly painless way to start investigating is to download AutoRuns for Windows v8.54.
This gives a very comprehensive summary of everything that runs at startup, and where it lives on disk. This might reveal the identity of the blobs. crossfingers

sorry to bother you again but::
AutoRuns for Windows v8.54. is great and without any problem takes you straight to the correct poisition in regedit. trying to be clever i added the word “YES” to the load and run data. My system screamed at me and said no no no …..
should there be a value there? if so help what would it be

Would you mind explaining what “blobs” are, for this person who is scratching his head? confused3

      • #1040230

It stands for “Binary Large OBject”, but I haven’t a clue what exactly alexanderd means by using that word…

        • #1040243

thank you to all who have taken part in trying to help me.
a “blob” was something i could not read and i related it to a blob of ink on a paper.
I have come to the conclusion that i have damaged the system and will have to re-instal windows (other thing are going wrong ) i will try to recover the system before i go whole hog and re-format my hard disc..
thanks to one and all for the help

Before doing this drastic deed, can you POST what you got from AutoRuns?

Preferable from using a Command Prompt window and typing
            autoruns > startup.txt
and then loading Startup.txt into NOTEPAD, and posting the results?

It is often necessary to ask the poster for more specific information, otherwise we’re working in the dark!

            John

PS If the above information is not sufficient to enable you to get some output, please ask!

              hi,
thank you for your conserns but i have done an in place upgrade (reinstalation ) and it seems ok. autoruns dose give you the choise of saving your results which i will uplift..
The initial problem no longer shows on the system configuration utility so hopefully there will be no other problems
