I’m writing a short tutorial, and want to know what keys you press on motherboards to get at the one-time boot device menu. For example, on most Intel motherboards it’s F10. On an old IBM ThinkPad it’s F2.

On a lot of modern computers “DEL” or “ESC” can be used to access the bios screen. “F8” is also common to access the boot sequence menu.

I think you’ll find there’s an awful lot of variation on what key strokes at boot will invoke the boot order menu on various setups.
Most tutorials will “refer” the reader back to their specific make/model to learn the exact key that invokes the boot order menu.
It would be incredibly ambitious of you to include them all in such a tutorial…and it would not be short anymore.

LOL, yeah, I wasn’t planning anything comprehensive. But you answered my question: there are lots of possibilities. Thanks!

The start up screen usually tells you what to press.

      cheers, Paul
