Text effects and word art not rendering in browser

I’m saving a word 2010 document as an htm file and when viewed in a browser any word art that I used shows almost completely transparent and if I try to apply text effects to any text it renders as plain text in the browser.

I would like to show some creativity in the pages that we’re trying to create, happy birthday notices, etc. but it’s not working out too well using Word.

Suggestions?

Edit: I forgot to mention that clip art shows up just fine.
