Since there has recently been discussion relating to pdf and Stephen Lebans’ excellent code, I am hoping this is the correct place to ask this question. I am not sure if this is the place to ask this, so please accept my apology in advance.

Changes in company accounting software now requires that reports previously created in Access and saved as pdf files now be saved as TIFF files. Does anyone have a recommendation for the best approach to accomplishing this?

Should I consider purchasing a “TIFF” printer?

Perhaps you can use the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer printer?

They have purchased a third party software program “Chameleon”, a document imaging and management software that acts as a “bridge” into their SQL Server based accounting system. We have been creating purchase orders for the last four years out of an Access based system, that created pdf files which were emailed to the accounting department. Now accounting has purchased this new tool, they want TIFF files instead of pdf files. My point of contact in the accounting department says the new program will accept pdf’s but it is more difficult and they have elected to standardize on TIFF. The best of my recollection is TIFF files can get REALLY BIG.

Like you, that seems like a step back in time.

I am trying to get access to some info on their new software to see if it really is more difficult to accept a pdf.

How does one obtain Microsoft Office Document Imaging ?

It’s part of Microsoft Office. There should be a shortcut to it in Start | (All) Programs | Microsoft Office | Microsoft Office Tools, and it should also be one of the printers in the Printers and Fax Devices control panel.

I have A2k, is Microsoft Photo Editor the equivalent?

Can I download and run Microsoft Office Document Imaging?

Microsoft Photo Editor has a slightly different focus – it has more picture editing features. It does have the capability to save as a .tif file (at least, the version that comes with Office XP does, I don’t know about Ofifce 2000). But Microsoft Photo Editor does not act as a printer, and it can’t be controlled from VBA, so in that way it’s more limited than Microsoft Office Document Imaging.
