• Title on HTML e-mail header (2000)

At my firm, there is one person whose html messages print with the company name in the header (to the right of “Page # of #”). The problem is, it’s the old company name (and he always uses html), so we’ve got to get this off. Is there some option in Outlook or IE6 that controls this?

If I open a message from this person and go to File | Page Setup | Memo Style, the Header field displays “&w&bPage &p of &P”. If I delete “&w&b”, just “Page # of #” prints in the e-mail header. But the header field is the same in others’ html e-mails and the company name does not print. Any advice?

In the Outlook Email setup, there are a couple of “Other User Information” fields, Organisation and Reply E-mail. Could it be getting it from there?

do you mean when installing outlook?

          Tools > Services >
Select the email service and click Properties….
It should be on the first window.

ah, sorry. this is a corporate/workgroup install. there’s no such info in the properties for the exchange server.

Do both the User Name and the obsolete Company name print out? Anything unusual in the name by which the MS Office software is registered? I was wondering vaguely if the username for this Outlook client is the old company name instead of the actual user’s name.

Both the user name and company name print. The company is above the user name in the page header. I’ve seen this referred to as the “title” — like you have when printing a web page — while searching for an answer in mskb. (No answer found…still need any help.)

While in Page setup have you checked to see if there is a entry in the Header section?
I am using Outlook 2003 and there is a header and footer section, I do not remember if there is in 2000 or not.

There is nothing in the header section if I go to File | Page Setup from the Outlook application window. If I enter Page Setup from the html e-mail message window, the header shows “&w&bPage &p of &P”.

Sorry, I took another look and I was in a Plain Text email. I see only what you posted when in a HTML email.

Does he have himself in the Contacts folder with these details? HTH

He has a contact for himself, but the company name is correct in it.

I just found that if you were to go to “Page Setup” when you do NOT have a email open, there is also a “Header” tab. Make sure that there is NOT any thing there, as this MAY get printed also.

In your original post, you said “there is one person whose html messages print with the company name in the header”.
              Do you mean:
              a) Messages originating from that user?
              or
Any messages which that user prints?

If the former, are they using a template? If so, check the source code (right_mouse > View Source) and look for a line similar to:
              <em class="gdbbx-bbcode-italic">Company Name</em>

I meant messages originating from that user. And you’re right; the title is in the template’s html. I couldn’t see how to edit this in the existing template, and so plan on creating a new template with the same design elements. However, if anyone knows how to edit the html in the existing template, that would be a lot easier. I tried doing the edit and then using File | Save within the source window, but it didn’t work.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped troubleshoot this. Your assistance is much appreciated!

Templates are not something I use so I’m not too familiar with the procedure, but for ideas, check
