We have a new Director joining us from another company in two weeks. His assistant has a list of contacts in Outlook 98. Is there an easy way to copy or send the entire list to me? I use Outlook 2000. I’d appreciate any thoughts.

      Tools/Import and Export/Export to a file
      Select Comma Separated Values (Windows)
      Select folder to export from….
For ease just use the default values and save as C:contacts.csv

Importing is fairly straighforward following the above and does actually work.

Note: Unless you have a need to, it is not worth playing with the ‘mapping fields’ option – stick with the default. If you do on the export side, you will have to match it on the import side.

They should be able to File–>Import and Export and use the ensuing dialogs to export the Contacts folder to a pst file. Then they can send it to you and you can either import it the same way or use File–>Open–>Personal Folders File to open that folder and look at or copy the list into your own contacts folder.

Have them create a new pst and copy them to it. File > New > personal folder. Then right click, drag and copy the calendar file to it. Copying the folder retians hidden items that are lost when export is used.
Open the pst using File > open and copy to your good contacts folders. Or work with two psts to keep them separate from your contcts
