• Trust access to VBA greyed out

Excel 2010. If I select File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings… > Macro Settings, I (now) find that everything is greyed out. And the ‘Trust access to the VBA project object model’ at the bottom is unchecked.
It didn’t used to be that way, so I initially suspected that it was some group policy that the corporate IT dept had implemented. I saw a suggestion to run something called gpedit.msc, but the section that supposedly needed fixing didn’t exist.
I’ve tried completely uninstalling then re-installing Office, but same story.
Anybody have any ideas what setting might be causing it to be greyed out?
    TIA

I didn’t figure out why it’s greyed out, but by modifying some registry settings I was able change the checkbox so that it’s checked. In case it’s helpful to anybody else reading this, I searched the registry for AccessVBOM (presumably Visual Basic Object Model?) and set them to 1 rather than 0.
