I have 2 Win7 pcs with shared folders. For some reason when I share a folder on PC1 and make it available to everyone I cannot access this folder with PC2. I get the message “\XXX-PC is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource………etc….. Logon failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a [policy restriction has been enforced.”

I can access shared folders on PC2 with PC1 & have not placed any restrictions so not sure what is stopping the access.

    Am using workgroups not homegroups.

    Thanks

      fawlty99,

I’ve found that if you setup accounts on both PC that have the same UserId and Password on both PC you shouldn’t have any problem accessing shared folders on either machine. Thus if you have User1 – Password1 on both machines and optionally User2 – Password 2 on both machines. You should have no problems. You can even hide the unused account on each machine so it doesn’t show up on the logon screen. You can search the forums for Hide Accounts to find out how.
