I am getting the following message when I try to update Windows 10: “There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070422)”

This is my current windows version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 10.0.18363 Build 18363

    How do I fix this?

      1. Have you tried running the online troubleshooter in W10?
2/ alternatively see this article: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-update-error-0x80070422

I am not familiar with “online troubleshooter in W10”. How do I access it?

      To run a troubleshooter:
      Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot ,
      Click Additional Troubleshooters
Select the type of troubleshooting  you want to do, then select  Run  the  troubleshooter .

Allow the  troubleshooter run  and then answer any questions on the screen.

      did the troubleshooter find anything?

you may have corrupt files, try this

How to Run SFC from within Windows as an Administrator:

Click the  Start  button and in the search bar, type  cmd .

Right-click on cmd .exe and select  Run  as Administrator. (it may say Command Prompt or cmd.exe)

Click Yes on the User Account Control (UAC) prompt that appears, and once the blinking cursor appears, type: SFC  /scannow and press the Enter key. (there is a space after sfc)

      • to get out of the dialog enter “exit” (without the quotes)

this will take a few minutes and may not find anything or it will fix things or it will tell you other stuff.

I ran the scan with these results:

      Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.18363.535]
      (c) 2019 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
      c:\WINDOWS\system32>SFC /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
      Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. C:\WINDOWS\system32>

      What can I try next?

your version 1909 at 18363.535 has not been updated since Dec 2019.

Look at your update history and if you haven’t intentionally stopped updates it may

get complicated. Ensure you  backup your data in case you need to reinstall windows.
