In “PATCH WATCH Welcome to beta testing of Outlook” it says to update the wireless network adapter. This is new to me, can you give me a bit more information.

When get to the adapter and click update it says “This device is working properly” but it is 2014:  Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 2/25/2014 version 15.12.0.6

Question 1: Is that advice specific to those running Outlook? (I am not)

Question 2: Click update driver it asks “search automatically” or “Browse my computer” ==> I am timid – what is the next step? How do I know what driver to choose?

Thanks (I’m on 8.1 Toshiba all in one which I love)
sorry if this is a duplicate but my question does not get posted – I’m trying again

    Wireless and Bluetooth

Before installing this month’s updates, you should run Device Manager (click the Windows icon and type “device manager,” then click the app result to launch it). Expand the section for network adapters and see if you can identify your wireless network adapter (assuming your computer has one).

Double click on the network adapter and click on the Driver tab. While you are there, check the age of the driver to see if it’s within the last few years.

That was unrelated to Outlook. Browsing your computer is most unlikely to find a more recent driver. You could search automatically to see what Windows Update may offer, but it’s probably best to visit Toshiba’s support page for your model and find the latest wireless driver to download there.

Thanks. I’m looked for the driver but it sure is confusing. ==> Is anything obvious as to which one I should download?

but it’s probably best to visit Toshiba’s support page for your model and find the latest wireless driver to download there.

Device manager > Update driver > Search Automatically > comes up “the best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date

My Toshiba “Service Station” utility doesn’t list a wireless driver to update.

Toshiba’s website provides the list below but the name is not an exact match to “Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230” ?

The website drivers all have the same date (my driver date is 2/25/2014)
Some of the version numbers are actually before mine 15.12.0.6 which is not listed.

You could try Intel Driver & Support Assistant: Update Your Wi-Fi Adapter Driver

(But that model has been out of support for 3.5 years.)

I went ahead with the Windows Updates and nothing broke so far.

I will save your advice for a future adventure.

      Thanks
