I have put the field {useraddress *mergeformat} into my document footer and put an address into Tools Options User Information – Mailing Address to fill the field.

The last line of my User Information Mailing address includes the telephone and fax number. For some reason the last few digits in the last line of the the address drop off leaving and incomplete address. This seems like a bug of some sort. Does anyone know a fix?

      Hi Kerry,

If you’re putting this into a table or text box in the footer, the explanation could be as simple as the table cell/text box being too narrow. Otherwise I can’t duplicate the problem here (Word 2K).

      Cheers

I am not putting it in a text box or table. I have Word 2 K at home and 97 at work. The same problem happens with both. It doesnt show up until you save the document and go out of it and back again. It may appear ok on the document once or twice but if you close out of word and go back in you will find the last line is missing in the Tools OPtions UserAddress. On first appearances it looks ok – but it isnt stable. You Will eventually loose the last few characters of the user address.

This is telling: the error is not in the { useraddress } field, but in the way Word stores the options. By trial and error I found that User Address has a maximum length of 126 characters.

Hmm, that seems a typical idiotic Microsoft scenario.

I will have to do some serioius abreviation then, if there is not other option.

            Thanks again Hans

If this is just for yourself, you could create a custom document property in the relevant templates with that information and use DOCPROPERTY fields. But of course this might spread further and wider than you’d like… how about AUTOTEXT? That provides lots of options, including rich text.
