One of my client’s Windows 10 machines does not show the Windows update screen. When I go to the SETTINGS>Update&Security screen, there is NO display of the Windows Update choice! I am dropped into Delivery Optimization (and can see all the other choices except Update.

Has anyone ever seen this? Extremely frustrating! I am planning on resetting the machine with Windows 10 as a way out. I have looked at so many options like regedits, etc. I cannot find another issue like this anywhere on the Internet. MSFT wants to charge me $499 to “answer my question” but it’s cheaper to just reset the machine. Hopefully that will work.

This machine started as Windows 7, was on an AD network, then removed from the AD network, and upgraded to Windows 10. Not sure when this issue started, but I believe it was after Windows 10 upgrade.

    Any thoughts?

Have you looked in Group Policy in the Windows Update or Windows Update for Business section? It may have been set up from it’s previous network connection so the end User does not have access to Windows Update. There is also equivalent Registry settings for each of the GP areas. There are screenshots of the Registry areas at the bottom of AKB2000016 if you can’t find them.

Yes, I had looked there, and actually used the same AKB you mentioned. I could find nothing there that led me see that the actual screen itself was hidden. But perhaps I missed it.

Ah I think I found it. It’s a GP as you mention, and there is a Settings Page Visbility setting that can allow you to turn on and off parts of the Settings page.  Thanks for the pointer.

Where in the Group Policy editor is the Page Visibility setting?  I can’t seem to find it.

      TIA for the info.
