Windows 11 starts installing automatically after download. I am using AVG.

I was just reading this morning’s article on https://www.computerworld.com/article/3637879/how-to-get-rid-of-windows-11-and-roll-back-to-windows-10.html

and was welcomed to inform if Windows 11 does start installing without user input. So here it is.

Windows 10 21H2 IS windows 11 get ready for it, like it or not on capable systems

Windows 10 21H2 is NOT Windows 11. It is a small update to 21H1.

And Windows 10 21H2 isn’t out yet.  I’ve seen smatterings of reports that 11 is being pushed and I’m trying to verify it.

Because that’s not was I was told/what we were told would happen.  Microsoft indicated that we would be “offered” – not pushed to Windows 11.

Can you tell me if
1. you clicked on ‘check for updates’?
2. do you have any third party security software and if so which one?
3. other description of what the process was like? You … and did … and then…?

4. You aren’t in the insider program?

The other recent case I read of this, reported here – the User clicked “Check for updates” on a qualified PC.

This afternoon after following your advice, installing & then uninstalling, I clicked Start/Settings/Windows Update/check for updates & that’s all, Windows 11 started to download, I immediately paused updates.

Even with that, as I’ve seen it reported at this time you have to click to approve/engage the install, it really shouldn’t merely start by clicking on check for updates.

What it’s supposed to do is be up there as an “offering” BUT NOT auto install.
