I have encountered an error when trying to install the KB4516065 patch on my Windows 7×64 PC.  The error was 800B0100 and the text said windows couldn’t find or use a file that was needed to proceed due to being incorrectly registered with windows. Didn’t say what file.  I rebooted and tried again.  All the other patches sucessfully installed when I installed them after an initial reboot.  I tried a second time and was still not able to install after a reboot again..  Any ideas on what is causing the trouble and what I must do to fix the issue.  Years ago I had encountered a similar issue but it was more clear what had to be done.  Too long ago to  remember.

Any help greatly appreciated.  Up till now I have not had any real problems with updating this PC.  Yes, I have installed the windows update software update.  I have had no problems downloading the updates.

    Thanks,  RDLHP

        Run System File Checker.
Open an elevated Command Prompt (right ckick on cmd.exe, run as Administrator)
At the prompt, type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes)
        Let me know the outcome.

Reran the SFC /scannow and the second scan confirmed no problems after the corrections performed by the first.  The KB4516065 update has disappeared from the queue and the October updates are now there.

We basically skipped the September updates.
Wait for the DEFCON number to be 3 or greater and Woody will give instructions for installing the Oct. updates.
