Windows Backup gives me the following error message:

    > Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:WindowsSystem32configsystemprofileMy Pictures. Error: (The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002))

I looked in that folder and it contains only one folder, “Slide Shows,” which is empty. Why am I getting this message and what can I do about it?

    OS: Windows 7 Pro sp-1 32-bit
    Computer: Dell Latitude e-4300
    RAM: 3 gig
Disk has 35.7 gigs free out of 224

You may have to recreate the backup task. If you specify a file to be backed up and later delete the file, you will get this error.

system32config access is restricted to administrator.
Unless your backup is running as administrator I don’t think it can access anything in that folder.
There should also be no need to back it up, I would think, so as Jerry suggests the best way onward would be to eliminate that folder from the backup.

That folder (C:WindowsSystem32configsystemprofileMy Pictures) is not included in the backup settings. Only the following are included:

        [*]Administrator’s Libraries
        [*]’s Libraries
[*]Several additional data folders on Drive C:, none of which include C:Windows.

In fact, the Windows folder is not even in the list of selectable folders.

      Don’t backup libraries.
Libraries contain hard links so whatever your trying to backup in those locations, try backing up their root locations.

For most users that have not changed the locations of data, the actual data locations are in the /user/”UserName” folders, not the Libraries. As Clint mentions, the Libraries contain pointers to the data. This allows data to be stored in various folders, but have a convienent place to find pointers (shortcuts if you will) to the data. You can use Libraries to group pointers for like data from many folders in one location.
