Win11Home 23H2. Snipping Tool in the Start menu doesn’t work. Nothing happens when I click it. I navigated to the exe file which I found only in this directory:
    C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.ScreenSketch_11.2407.3.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\SnippingTool

It gives an error message even when run as administrator “Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.”

A post on the web indicated to uninstall it and reinstall from the Windows Store, but that also didn’t work. It wouldn’t uninstall.

The Print Screen key on the keyboard works, but it lacks the menu as mentioned in the previous articles.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe you have some Windows corruption?
Try running SFC and DISM using Jim’s Toolbox.

Thanks, Paul, but that didn’t work. And now Notepad, Paint, and Photos won’t run. Notepad and Paint don’t even show up in installed apps, so I can’t repair or reset them. Repair and reset didn’t work on Photos either. And I can’t even get the Microsoft Store to open to try to download and reinstall them.

      Sounds like it’s broken!
      You have 3 options:
      1. Restore from backup – assuming you have an image backup.
      2. Reinstall over the top (Susan’s favourite method).
      3. Reinstall from scratch (least favoured method).

      cheers, Paul
