So… if the iPhone X is pronounced “iPhone 10,” shouldn’t Win10 X be pronounced “WinTenTen”? Sorry. Asking for a friend.

Sounds like this is one of those “deep thoughts” moments.

Personally I always preferred “iPhone X”. So in this case we would have “iPhone XX”. Almost sounds kind of naughty. I bet they’d sell more of them if they did that.  🙂

Meh. All it needs is a proper version number separator and a consistent way of writing it.

Have used at least two different operating systems that had version number 10.10, before. One of them was pre-Y2K.

I love my iPhone, but the best translation of the iPhone XS i have ever seen is the iPhone Excess for its $1000+ price.

That a lot of Apple Tax.

Win Ten Ten – I like it.

Truly, Microsoft has decided to confuse everyone with the new non-version numbers which in fact are version numbers, with a prominently-displayed “10” that isn’t a version number. Anything is an improvement.

Whatever you want to call it, I took it out with the trash. Between Linux Mint & Chromium OS, I’m all better now. My wife’s laptop still has 10 only because she’s used to it and not a fast tech learner. I do have a desktop rig running 10 and an old Dell laptop with XP because of a few legacy programs – neither is hooked to the ‘net and they only get plugged in once or twice a month. Financial & billpay stuff is done on an old netbook with no HDD that boots off a read-only Puppy USB stick. I feel ten years younger & twenty pounds lighter with the M$ monkey off my back.

Woody, so if iPhone X should be pronounced iPhone Ten, shouldn’t iPhone 7 have been designated “iPhone VII”?

OMG this is marketing’s branding run amok and more confusion regarding MS’s 10 branded OS product stack that’s more like a game of 52 pickup with that confusing branding flung out all over the place.

I was looking at secert messages some logo have. (hersey kiss has an extra kiss. And since IMO anything with 10 is sure not a diamond, even an diamond in the ruff but back to logos

XX if you look at the space between the X’s there is a diamond. Iphone Diamond would be my vote, but in windows case as far as 10 is concerned, 10XX to me means that there were trying to make a correction and the program bugged out

My first thought – honest – was:
10X for “10 times too rapid an update pace”.

      Second thought:
10X (XXXXXXXXXX) extra, extra, extra, extra, extra, extra, extra, extra, extra, extra bloated.

      Much later thought:
10X confectioner’s sugar… Probably what Microsoft Marketing intended.

How about 10 4 – over and out?!!  My feelings for MS updating included.  Just finished September updates to find CU for 1809 KB4524148 this morning.  It’s hidden awaiting word from Woody.  More wasted time.

      Windows XX
Would that make it Windows double-cross? 🙂

Cryptic, misleading and nearly useless like the description “HD Antenna”.

Hmm, is Win10 X the successor to S mode?

      • #1974278

No, because Windows 10X is only for mobile devices — but unlike Windows Mobile or Windows Phone, it’ll be able to run Win32 apps.  S Mode will likely still exist on the desktop.  It does actually have its uses, e.g. digital signage.

    • #1974197

Well knowing Microsoft they will probably change that a dozen times before release. Not even sure why you would brag about something at least a year away? Technology is so much about the moment and by next year that moment could be gone?

By the time Win 10 X is out, we might have Iphones XII.

Microsoft should not try to outdo Apple at marketing.

And what good is 10 years of support when your device is designed to last about 3-5 max?

But joking aside, my first thought is, does the world need such a product and especially at the price it will likely be? I don’t see how a dual-screen device will be so great for the productivity of most people. Ok, it makes nice ads of people drawing with a pencil on a boat while investigating the oceans. It seems like another weird way of allocating resources just to show off you can do something like that Microsoft table a couple of years ago, 3D Paint and thinking people will use AR building blocks in offices or talk to their computer while sitting close to their colleagues in open-space offices (yes I am looking at you Cortana).

I am not excited at all by this and it’s not even because it comes from Microsoft.
