Thanks Fred for providing the link in your article for downloading the Windows 1809 update. For reasons unknown to me I was excluded from the update running a regular update and receiving it. I met none of the known exceptions, so despite the recommendations here I decided to bite the bullet and force the update. Why? I felt the longer I wait the more chance there would be an issue later if I delayed it. Perhaps it would leave my vulnerable to malware in the future. Plus I have not had issues in the past updating. Well, not true entirely because I did lose some data but it wasn’t earth shattering. I have a recovery image and my data is backed up to the cloud, so I wasn’t worried about losing anything.
I am happy to report that the update was successful without ANY issues whatsoever. It only took about 40 minutes and my PC has been running fine the last 3 weeks without any complications. Updates are occuring fine too. Why MS wasn’t updated to 1809 on my computer normally is a mystery.
