Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |
Before doing some systems updates to my Win10 Home PC using WuMgr, I made a disk image and a recovery media. After doing them, the Window Update settings went missing, no longer can pause updates. So I restored my system (it was at OS build 19044.2130, now back to OS build 19044.1889)
The Window Update settings are still missing.
Any idea what’s going on? Do I even need Windows Update if I’m using WuMgr?
If you are using WUMgr to control Windows Update, you should NEVER use “Pause” in the Settings App under Windows Update.
Windows Update and WUMgr both use the Windows Update Service to scan for updates. Using “Pause” in the Settings App\Windows Update stops the Windows Update Service from searching for updates on BOTH Windows Update and WUMgr.

WuMgr had hidden it. It came back as soon I unchecked the box that CraigS32 identified.
