Windows updater error 80244019

Hi everyone,

Trying my luck here. Windows failed to boot: error 0x490 -> did a new Win7 install on my second HDD. Now trying to update Windows shows me an updater error: 80244019

Tried many different common ways of fixing the issue, none have worked. It’s odd, since not a single update has been done yet. There’s not history of updates, so none could’ve been bad.

Any tips?

There are two threads concerning updating Win7 that may help you. They are not from a clean install, but the methods and the prerequisites in both cases will be the same.

To use Windows Update to get the updates up until its EOL, you have do prepare Win7 to use SHA-2 coding. There are also certain prerequisite patches that need to be downloaded and manually installed.

This is an issue with Windows 7 RTM. Install Service Pack 1.
