• Word 2010 File Block Settings Error

I have a user who all of a sudden started not being able to open documents. He gets an error message: “File Block Settings prohibit the action.” We had him go into Word Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings, File Block Settings, and Restore Defaults. He did that and he is now able to open documents that have the docx extension, but still is unable to open documents with the.doc extension.

These are documents that he has worked on in the recent past. Any suggestions on how to remedy the problem will be greatly appreciated.

On my Word 2010 machine, restoring defaults still blocks Word 95 docs. Did he untick all the options on that screen or just restore the defaults?
