I note that the list of open workbooks displayed in the Window pull-down menu is arranged with the most recently opened at the top (1), the second most recently opened next, etc.
I have been unable to find documentation verifying that this is always so, and cannot be changed through an option setting.
    Can anyone offer comment.
Although I am working in Office 2K, I need knowledge on this issue for all versions of Excel (98 and later).

      Hi,
It has always been that way as I recall and there is no option to change it. May I ask why the order is important?

        Thanks for the speedy response.
I’m using an Auto_Open macro, and if the file in question was minimized when last saved; upon opening it is not the active window. Since I cannot guarantee the filename on opening, this piece of information makes it unnecessary to generate code to try and sort out the situation.

If you mean you are trying to refer to the workbook containing the Auto_Open macro, you can just use ThisWorkbook instead of ActiveWorkbook.
          Hope that helps?
