Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |
I have been using David Xanatos’ excellent WUMgr for a good while now and it has saved me and my system a deal of grief over this time. The only thing I find a little frustrating is the apparent lack of documentation or user guide. Mostly it is self explanatory, but could someone please explain what effect checking the “Register Microsoft Update” box has? Also what is “Offline Mode” and why would I use it?

Microsoft Update is an extension to Windows Update that allows it to check for updates to other installed Microsoft products, such as Silverlight, SQL Server, Exchange and MSI versions of Office. Click To Run versions are managed separately.
