I do not have Norton and I also have removed ONE DRIVE (uninstalled It).

The issue still comes back. Sometimes not for days  and sometimes it happens several times in a day.  REFRESH will have to be my option for resolving this for now.

I have same issue. Refresh works for me too. Only problem it comes back. I wish there was a “simple ” way to fix it permanently. Supposed solutions I have found on line are too complex for me.

TO CLARIFY THE BOX  IN  OPTIONALFEATURES ” SMB 1.0/CIFS FILE SHARING SUPPORT” IS NOT CHECKED OFF

    • in reply to: Networking home computers with Windows 10 #2425768

thanks for  the tip people. I did check to see where I may have enabled SMBv1 and it turns out I never checked that box, so I think it is not turned on. I must have used method 1 in the link that I showed in my original post here. In any case, networking other PCs is working good.

If there is any security risk in Method 1 of the link I posted somebody school me on it because security is more important to me than networking my PCs.

Thanks very much for the info

Info provided in the above link got me fully interconnected with 3 computers. Two are PCs (ethernet) and one is a laptop (WiFi). Of course you can only see folders (and there contents) from a linked computer if the folder is set up to be “shared”. It has be working great for at least a month. No Problems.

I have been getting error messages in Thunderbird but I must confess I just close them and it doesn’t seem to effect the download of my emails. I will pay better attention if it comes up again and report here.

My memory of things is not as good as it could be. After monitoring the times this happens the last 24 hours, I realize its a lot less than I thought it was.

I believe you may be right. The programs I believe may be doing this are Malwarebytes and/or  Avast AV. If they are scanning a particular drive when I try to open it, there is a delay.

      Thanks

PCI Express > Link State Power Management setting has been set to off. My BIOS remains as it has been for quite awhile so I decided not too mess with it for now. Thanks again

      John W,

I have noticed it happening for past few days. I updated to 21h1 end of august. Last cumulative update was 10/28.

      Hello alejr

Thanks for your attempt to help. You seemed to have helped seatle27. Unfortunately, I have already put a zero (Never) under Hard drive and I still have the issue.

    • in reply to: Cannot Access BIOS on Win 10 Reboot #2373105

I had the same problem. I received many logical suggestions from various Forums. None of them worked.
Black screen with blinking cursor was as far as could get.

I decided to disconnect one of my monitors. I have VGA and HDMI connected . I disconnected the HDMI and rebooted to BIOS (on my GIGABYTE MB it is continuously hitting Delete key). Behold my joy when I saw my BIOS Screen.

      Hoping this helps.

i have updated to 20H2. i found this link in 10 Forums,   https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10.

after uninstalling audio drivers i clicked the link and then i clicked the Update Now button. that took me and my PC on a 90 minute journey to 20H2.

so far no BSOD or malfunctions.

the person who provided the link also had a Lenovo laptop with the offending  audio  drivers .

thank you everyone for your help.

      Thanks for the info.

I downloaded and ran the registry change as suggested.

Restarted. Uninstalled audio drivers. Checked for updates. Got “Up To Date” notice.

Continue to have “2004 is on its way” notice (see screenshot) which I have had for many months.

    • in reply to: Waiting for Windows 10 Version 2004 update #2349541

      thank you for your response.

I looked over the info on the link . It’s over my head. thank you just the same.

I am so p—ed off that MS cannot fix this so the average user can get up to date before the Version reaches end of use. I guess if they do not act by May I am stuck with an end of use OS with no security updates.

    • in reply to: Waiting for Windows 10 Version 2004 update #2349507

I have conexant audio drivers on my Lenovo 510-15IKB (version 1909). I have tried to get Windows Update to offer 2004 by uninstalling the audio drivers.  When I click the “Check for Update” button I get “Up to Date”.

Please tell me the meaning of “Did you use Susan’s script or the script in AKB2000016 to set TRV to 1909? If so, you need to change it to 2004.”

What do I need to do to accomplish this ?  (I am not familiar with scripts)

    • in reply to: V2004 Never Downloaded #2315491

I do have Conexant Audio Driver so I assume that is the problem. I checked my PC Makers drivers for my PC. The Conexant Audio Driver is from 11/20/17. They obviously have not updated it since then. (before the advent of V2004).

I guess I am at “wait and see” for now.

Oh how I miss W7. Just had to restart my PC after update. No DEFCON to worry about,
