    • in reply to: Mozilla Firefox Drops The Other Shoe #2572291

Rather than post this in all the Windows forums, I just thought I’d post it here:

“Firefox version 115 will be the last supported Firefox version for users of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. If you are using these versions of Windows you will be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) channel by an application update. Mozilla will provide security updates for these users until September 2024. No security updates will be provided after that date. ”

As fewer and fewer people use Windows 7, support for Windows 7 software packages will diminish and that reduction will exist for all software packages.

    • Under the circumstances, it might be wise to inform CrystalDiskInfo of the “virus” notification in VirusTotal. False positive or not false positive is their call to make.

    • Consider making backups on a regular basis. If your computer goes update berserk, you can return it to what you want. Restore points are also useful.

    • I don’t find JMS56x.dll in the CdiResource\DLL folder. However, I do find JMS56x64.dll which when (DLL folder is extracted and and the file then) tested with VirusTotal is flagged as JMS56x.dll with the WebRoot notification.

JMS56x86.dll shows as JMS56x.dll in VirusTotal with no flags.

JMS56xA64.dll shows as JMS56x.dll in VirusTotal with no flags.

At this point it seems like I am unable to reply in that thread at all, and I am left leaving the other guy hanging.

I find the editor here quite awkward. If in “Visual”, that is using the Visual tab, there are a number of HTML commands that will not resolve.

HTML commands have <> around text; some HTML commands work, some don’t. It is only after your information is submitted that you will see the unresolved HTML commands. To remove the extraneous HTML commands, edit your post.

You have 1.5 hours to edit your post after first submission.

There is no Preview and what you see while editing is not what you get when you post.
