AskWoody PlusJuly 11, 2020 at 3:51 pm in reply to: And the Win10 version 2004 upgrade blocks just keep comin’ #2279416I, for one, am glad that MS is “blocking” the 2004 upgrade on some devices… especially when they KNOW there is a known problem(s). If the feature upgrade isn’t working, that is the least MS should do. A working upgrade would be even better!

AskWoody Plus“Resumed updates” and received KB4497165 without “Check for updates”.
Paused for 7 days and resumed updates again and MS reports “You’re up to date”
Current version is 1909, build 18363.836
Also have a Lenovo laptop Yoga 910. Resuming updates (not asking/checking) also installed KB4497165.
Both got the KB without “checking” for updates and neither were offered Win 2004.

AskWoody PlusAfter checking the WiFi signal strength in the living room (router Actiontec T3200 via Windstream located in back bedroom floor, under the desk), I decided to try to increase the signal strength by repositioning the router to the top shelf of the desk. Although the strength was OK, I noticed the Amazon WiFi stick playing a STARZ HD program would occasionally resort to buffering and like some people, I had additional time while staying at home so… After a lengthy process of raising the router and redressing the cables into a nice neat appearance, the signal strength was actually worse lol. Usually, a higher antenna IS better. RF can sometimes be a ‘magic animal’. The router is back on the floor, experiment/entertainment complete.

AskWoody Plus@ CADesertRat: We have a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB (SATA) using Samsung Magician, set to handle TRIM, without problems. I have used the manual update for software, from within the program) and all is well. The program also indicates a firmware update is available but have NOT updated as some online experienced a “slowdown” after the update.

Backup FIRST, sleuth later (as others have mentioned).
