AskWoody LoungerNice surprise for a change: File History just ran as normal, so its index is not gone this time. Save me some quite considerable amount of my time!
So it’s just Search Index that still needs rebuilding…

AskWoody LoungerDamage so far:
1. AMD Radeon Settings crashing post-update – had to be reinstalled to fix it
2. HP DeskJet printer driver suddenly gone – had to be reinstalled
3. Search Index gone (but I had witnessed it earlier sadly, rebuilding as we speak)
4. I’m guessing File History index gone as well (I had witnessed it earlier sadly), will have to be re-synced which is really a waste of time and resources…

Am I missing anything obvious here?

AskWoody LoungerApril 30, 2018 at 8:38 am in reply to: A remarkably unbiased review of Win10 April 2018 Update #188837Just one from me: Is File History still part of Windows 10 in the view of Timeline being added in this release? Or is it retired now?

AskWoody LoungerAll good here post-install (as if I really have had any choice, that is…!)

AskWoody LoungerThanks Woody
Have some idea now what seems to be triggering this unexpected and unwanted install as I forgot about my broadband monitor (courtesy of Samknows) that – I think – uses customised TP-Link hardware.
Will check later today and follow up with vendor..

AskWoody LoungerHey Susan,
Most useful – many thanks for picking this up.
I actually did spot it couple of times in the Event Log so two probably very silly questions from me:
* how do I find out which device still uses SMBv1 and (assumingly) makes Windows 10 1709 re-adding it every now and then? I own only few of such beasts at home:
- -old-ish Vista laptop
- -new-ish 8.1 laptop
- -new-ish HP network printer
- -new-ish personal network cloud device?
* how do I disable this process completely and ensure that SMBv1 does not get reinstated at all?

(one must be really bored on Friday evening!)
