Posted on the Service Status page at 6:30 UTC: Final status: We reverted the change that was causing impact and refreshed the service-side caching. We’ve confirmed through telemetry that impact was successfully remediated. Users should refresh their browser or restart the application to ensure the client-side caches are updated. Start time: Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 7:00 AM UTC End time: Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM UTC Preliminary root cause: A recent change caused license information to incorrectly populate, leading to impact. Next steps: – To help prevent similar impact in the future, we’re further reviewing our testing and validation processes prior to deployment. This is the final update for the event.

Can never remember how to perform the task described by the OP!

So I resort to a short 4 page page word document with a large page number in the centre of each page, saved as a pdf.

Then attempt to print on laser B/W printer. After a few attempts and changes to the printer setting, I manage to get an A5 booklet on A4 sheet (ie p1 backed by p2 & p3 by p4) with centre fold. Correctly page numbers and correct way up!

Must make a detailed note of settings next  time !!**!!

    • No reason to be messing with existing apps inorder to promote the new!

Can’t help thinking that the update that caught out Win 10 users in Jan ’24 was about selling Win 11 – “oh dear my win 10 is bust, must dash out and get a Win 11 box”

@Bob99   Found quoted info on BBC News website. Think it might only be available to U.K. addresses 🙁

However the reports are like a rash on U.K. newspapers!

There is now a report that Mike’s co-defendent was killed last Saturday while running in Cambridge U.K. – very bad month for all.

The solution I applied was mentioned by @krcportero in a post of June 18th 2024 and subsequent links and I eventually followed the instructions under paragraph “Fix 0x80070643 error in windows 10”

This certainly appears to have increased the Recovery Partion size.

What does concern me is a lack of evidence that the partition contans a vaild Windows 10 Pro Recovery image and do not wish to start an experimental recovery in case things turn out bad !

Does the Win 10 recovery processes give a warnings before it starts and allowing an abort if the recovery image is invalid?

Meanwhile I’ll stagger on with W10 for anoth year.

      1.  Hmmm, do you think the “…unknowing home user…” has given up and decided to ditch Win 10 and purchase a Win11 device? Sharp way to force upgrade of hardware and O/S.
      2. I used a method described on this site to expand the recovery partition. However how can I be sure that it contains a valid ‘image’ to recover the O/S and if it doesn’t how can I populate the partition?

    • in reply to: Five reasons not to use the new Outlook #2647990

@peterdeegan  “As I said in the article, despite Microsoft hype of the new Outlook, it’s a long way from being complete. Email/Mail Merge is just one of the features on the ‘catch up’ list.”

IMHO  Not a good example to future developers on how to rollout an app!

I use Word & Excel + Outlook and Mail Merge to send 150 Newsletters also Outlook mail merge attachment (OMMA).

Will “new” Outlook support this?? Don’t think so! Especially as OMMA uses mails pending in the OUT Box.

      Any thoughts?

      @8string Thanks for your comment.

I presume that MS employed the ‘Friday Afternoon’ programming team for this development!

Baffled why an incomplete application should see the light of day.

Have you attempted to read the email via a webmail interface?

(I frequently get emails displayed as html code with WindowsMail – but they look ok with webmail.)

    • No screen shot and no indication what I was being asked to “Install”. It was so ‘out of the blue’, that I just let the window remain (there was also an icon with a spinning CD) on screen until I’d completed Norton install and scanned, to see if it was malware being dropped. I do have a HP C4380 MFD installed.

      Subsequent scan revealed nothing.
