I have two clients who are providing a national health program. Since it’s a public health program they have each appended local elements to the program and want to be able to track them. When there were only two clients I just had two separate programs but both of my clients were singing my praises at a conference and now I’ve had several other queries. Writing two programs was the lazy way out but more than would soon become a nightmare.
What I hope to accomplish is a table driven form for collecting the local data so that the client could specify which elements were to be collected and the order in which they appear. The information is to be entered into either text or combo boxes so enabling or setting the tab order seems simple enough but some of the clients get very picky about how the questions are labeled. It would be nice to be able to offer an editable label as a local variation.
Perhaps using the information and building a new form would be better than trying to edit an existing one. In either case I’ll still need to access the value of the attached label.
Does that explanation help or just make it worse?

Now why didn’t I think of that. I’d reloaded the original but . . .

    • in reply to: Address print (97) #1076511

I created a new page and printed some text which printed fine in black. I then changed the paper size to envelope and it printed in colour.

I also tried Rita’s suggestion but this printer has been Delled and I was unable to find that option. Perhaps I need to look harder.

Yes the problem relates exclusively to envelopes, even if the envelope is appended to the letter and the text in the envelope has been manually set to black. The letter prints from the black cartridge and the envelope from the colour one.

Other than the problem with the ink cartridge the printer appears to function properly.

Thank you. I thought that might be the case but was hoping for a work around. Oh well we’ll just have to create two templates.

Thank you. That seems to have done the trick.

Bridging a dial-up and lan connection is not an option on the desktop computer (now any other that I’ve looked at). I should reiterate the laptop computer can access the internet. It can ping and browse to web sites if given the numeric address. It does not seem to be able to perform any tasks which require DNS lookup.

    • in reply to: ICS – DNS issue (Home SP2) #996392

I’m not sure that I understand what you’re suggesting. Should I try to bridge the dial-up and ethernet connections on the desktop or the ethernet and wireless connections on the laptop. (The ethernet connection on the laptop isn’t hooked up to anything)

    • in reply to: Unable to use restored files #989688

NTBackup has never given me a problem in either restoring to original location (provided that you set it to overwrite) or restoring elsewhere. This appears to be restoring or creating some kind of permission.

    • in reply to: Unable to use restored files #988917

      Bob:
I’ve only got backup on one station. Something I hadn’t tried was restoring to the original machine. I tried restoring and copying to the original machine but that didn’t work either.

      Leif:
The files were not in use. I’m almost 100% certain that all files were inactive and 100% sure that 2 of three would have been.
I’ll try a text file tomorrow if I can get to that client.
The files and directories are not read only.
I tried a reboot with no success.

      Bob
I was attempting a single file restore just as a test to verify the integrity of the backup. At first I was restoring a single tax return (ProFile) but when it failed I tried a company file (QuickBooks) with the same result. There are some documents and spreadsheets too but I didn’t try them.

Edited by HansV to attach zip file to post instead of using external link. (Internet Explorer has no problems with it)

Here is the offending form. The only category is IMF Pipe Components and the only subcategory is Angle Rings. It seems that the lounge doesn’t work with Opera.

I think I’ll find a pointy hat and go sit in the corner for a while. When copying files into a new database it’s necessary to delete the duplicate MS____ files. Duh! The file has returned to normal size. Thank you all for the suggestions.

    • in reply to: file size (97) #967989

No. It’s still in Access 97 (there’s too much old code to migrate to even 2000). We carefully load everything but Access from either the 2000 or 2002 package.
