Thanks, Peter. Excellent article as usual. The OneDrive account the file is stored in doesn’t need to be yours, of course, if it is shared with you, and it can also work from non-microsoft cloud storage – not sure about them all, but I know it works with Box.

    • in reply to: What should you do about Windows 11? #2571885

I suspect that the Windows 11 Copilot, when it arrives, will be a persuasive reason to upgrade from Windows 10. You don’t seem to mention this anywhere in the newsletter.

    • in reply to: Readers speak: Remote Desktop options #2443351

In your recent column, you quoted a reader, who said,

The only things I don’t like about it are (1) I can’t copy-and-paste between the two machines, and (2) it does not support dual monitors

You didn’t correct them, so I wanted to add that Remote Desktop does indeed support dual monitors and also copy and paste as I regularly use those features.

Thanks for another great piece, Peter!

I think the reason there is confusion over Tasks/Todo and Tasks/Planner is that Microsoft combined ToDo and Planner into the Tasks app a little while ago.

    • in reply to: Still emailing documents? #2389432

Thanks for the great article, Peter – good to see you on here!

You don’t mention Teams (probably by design – you can’t cover everything in one short piece). I’ve become increasingly impressed with document collaboration on Teams – if you edit within the app, it’s a bit like using the web version of Word/Excel/PowerPoint and gives you some more options for commenting/chat.

I have to admit that I prefer Box for collaboration on some documents, though, due to it’s automatic version control.

    • Hi Graham

Have you tried setting your OneDrive folder as a Trusted Location?

    • in reply to: Macro command RunSavedImportExport #1228231

Do you happen to know where this “import spec” resides? Is it a file, or is it an object in Access? I can’t see it anywhere…

It is saved in hidden system tables within the database.

Glad to hear you have solved your problem. Hopefully, this was one of those one-off glitches that we get now and again!

    • in reply to: Macro command RunSavedImportExport #1228054

This is not normal behaviour. I suggest you try re-creating the saved Import, but if this does not work you may need to fix or patch your Access installation – do you have SP2?

Do you have Microsoft Access? Your csv file would import straight into a table in Access without problems (although Disch Date appears to be missing in the sample provided) and the output could be produced in a simple Access report or, if you must have it in Word, via a Word mail merge. No VBA required.

Have you tried using the drop down list at the bottom of the screen? You cannot type the name directly in the argument column. You can include spaces in the name, if you like.

      Hope this helps.
