September 27, 2015 at 2:25 am in reply to: Cloud storage issue? #1529954

One issue with Cloud Storage that bothers me is that, should I lose my device (currently an iPhone) or have it stolen, the finder or thief, with access to my device, can delete any or all of my pictures. The lost images might be of sentimental value, or worse still, or evidential importance.

Do any WS Loungers know of any settings that would prevent this, forcing deletes to be made only by log in from a PC?

If your iphone disappears and is accessible by the finder, they can delete pictures from your iphone. As your pics are in the Cloud, anyting deleted goes into it’s recycle bin and can be restored easily, unless you leave your username & password easily found.

      Hi Janet,

      30315-WSL

Try removing WLM then reinstall including log-in, with your anti virus & firewall disabled. If you have Ccleaner use it before reinstalling.

PS For Roderunner: you have taken ownership of files – in the case you set out you did that by copying them

Wrong! I already owned the files, all I did was to let my PC know.

      Hi Roy,
In all my years using a PC, I’ve never had to take ownership of anything
My Modus Operandi is to put as little as possible on ‘C’ drive, and put all on a partition or another built-in hdd.
I had some files I could not access on a partition, so I copied them to a USB HDD, deleted the originals, copied them to ‘C’ drive then moved them to my partition.

When you click on the GWX icon does it have any message or after reserving it ?

Hi Sudo15, I never reserved a copy of Win10 for either of my pc’s.
My desktop pc is capable of running Win10. But my laptop:-

In my original post, I forgot to mention that the WU icon in my task bar was visible without WU being open.

This is the version I use, it does all I want it to do when I want it done. It does everything perfectly. Never saw the need to upgrade.

      41533-RR

I tried Macrium, it tried to do what it wanted when it wanted. Can’t remember version apart from being free.

Thank you all for your advice. I think I’ll wait till Win10 escapes I mean is released then do a remaster on my laptop.

      Hi lumpy95,
For a fair amount of time, I’ve been meaning to do a clean install as my laptop is as slow as molasses. Now as it’s unable to run Win10, I’ll wait to see how it performs on my desktop pc. Then it will either be re-mastered or replaced.
