    • in reply to: Why am I able to see bcc addressees…? #2010754

Is this using the Mail app on iPhone or the Outlook app on iPhone?

I’m using the standard, built-in, Mail app on my iPhone.

Thanks for that. The emails I’ve noticed this on came from someone using the Windows 10 Mail app…!

I’ve always found you need to run scanpst until it reports no more errors. Can take 3 or 4 runs.

      cheers, Paul

Paul, Thanks for the useful tip.

Many thanks again. Pleased to report that problem is solved.

I scanned the pst file with scanpst but this did not solve anything (although some errors were found and repaired). Once again, main Gmail account still got to about 15 out of now 300 emails and stopped with error message 0x800CCC0F.

Had another think and decided to temporarily disable all the shields on my AV software (Avast) and, hurray, backlog of emails all downloaded and now cleared so I am back to working normally. Shields restarted. Phew!

Thanks again for everyone’s help. Interesting that it turned out not to be an Outlook 2003 problem after all!

Many thanks for your helpful replies.

mn- – I use SSL on all my email accounts.

jabeattyauditor – I removed the main account by going to the Email accounts and then removing the appropriate one. I then closed Outlook and reopened it, and then recreated the account from scratch. I use one profile for all my email accounts so they all come into a single Inbox – which is why I am somewhat reluctant to change to IMAP. Also if I remove the current pst file, surely I will loose all my current filed emails.

      Thanks again.

    • BATcher, your suggestion about a null field title proved absolutely correct. I wondered if it only applied to the line with inverted commas so I tried that first and sure enough, the window closed after running just as it always did before. So my code now looks as below. Thanks again.

      Code:
      @ECHO OFF
      START /MAX EXCEL.EXE
      START WINWORD.exe
      START C:Progra~1shortk~1shortkey.exe
      START “” “C:UsersVictor DeltaAgvddataGVD Programme DataPlainPastePlainPaste.exe”
      START /MAX C:Progra~1AvantB~1avant.exe
      START OUTLOOK.EXE
      Exit

    • Many thanks, BATcher. I’ll give it a try when I get back to the office next week.

    • in reply to: Printer doesn’t work after Anniversary update #1581633

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. Just tried (once again) uninstalling the driver and then rebooting and, this time, it appears to have done something different and now the printer works again just fine. So won’t be retiring it just yet…!

    • Sorry for the delay in coming back on this but I got sidetracked with family matters…

However, curiously this week’s Microsoft updates seem to have resolved the problem!

Thanks to all who offered alternative solutions. Nice to know there are ways round this problem should it occur again – as it probably will!

    • Thanks, will do. However I am currently away from the laptop in question for a few days so will do what you request and post a reply when I get back.

    • Yes, after about 30 secs of spinning cursor, ‘The converter failed to open the file.’ appears in a dialogue box.

    • Curiously, after this weeks MS updates followed by another re-installation of the file converters, Word and PowerPoint will convert and open their x files but Excel is still having problems.

    • I’m not sure what point you are trying to make but many people round the world, including a good number who are members of this forum, use Office 2003 very satisfactorily on Windows 8.1 and 10. Until the last few days, this has included opening docx and xlsx files too (in my case at least)!

    • in reply to: Recommend emoji font? #1525114

Thanks. That’s really interesting because it had never previously occurred to me that Windows fonts are monochrome only. In a company I once worked for, I thought we had a special font which included the company’s multi-coloured logo, but must be mistaken about that.

So what is the best/easiest way to insert emojis in, say, Word documents if it can’t be done using symbols or fonts. Surely one doesn’t have to copy and insert individual graphic files, or does one…?
