Puzzling browser (mis)behavior

A subscriber’s Chrome and Firefox browsers, on just one PC, fail to correctly render a certain website.

But Internet Explorer displays it perfectly. Moreover, neither Chrome nor Firefox exhibits the problem on other machines. What could account for such odd behavior on just one PC? Finding the answer will take some sleuthing.

Hardware settings mess up Chrome and Firefox

Two AskWoody readers are having peculiar browser issues. And the solution lies in opposite applications of the same browser setting!

In one case, the Firefox is inexplicably slow on a very fast PC; in the second case, the mouse pointer disappears from time to time in Chrome and Firefox — and there’s no obvious pattern.
