Well Big Sur 11.7.8 and Safari 16.5.1 installed Ok nothing untoward to report, interestingly with the Safari Favicons on the Start Page remained intact this time. on both supported iMac and macbook.
I installed iOS 16.5.1 and iPadOS 16.5.1 to my devices 3 days ago.
My iPhone SE2 was fine… no issues.
My iPad Gen 9 is slowly recovering from initial increased battery discharge.
This often happens after an iOS update whilst the device recalibrates itself… so is not usually a problem. (Despite the news in the press that ‘the skies are falling for Apple users’.)
It’s only a problem if unexpected battery discharge continues after about 4 days. I’ve never once found that to be a problem.

I updated my iPad to 16.5.1. On Friday I charged it to 94% and haven’t used it since. Currently it’s at 90%! No doom and gloom here.

RG – It took less than 48 hrs for my iPad to recover from its ‘battery draining’ condition. I’m used to these arbitrary glitches so don’t pay a whole lot of attention to them these days.
My iPhone SE2 is slightly different inasmuch I’m more dependent on it when I’m away from a charging method… but never have I exhausted either iPhone or iPad batteries after updates. I know what to look out for.
I’m just impressed that my iPhone SE2‘s battery continues to not show much signs of reduced service since I purchased it new from Apple in May 2020.
It now shows 89% of battery capacity… after just over 3 years, even without the Optimised Battery Charging option turned on:
IMO there’s been a lot of criticism levelled at Apple over battery life. I guess I’ve been lucky, ‘cos that’s never been my experience.

Our 5th Gen iPad still has 94% maximum capacity and we have had the ‘Optimised Battery Charging’ ON since we got it which would help as per description in your screenshot. 20-80 rule for charging (and on occasion, a complete drain/ battery full charge and reset/calibration)
