For the past month or two I have been unable to connect with GMail at work. I used to be able to do so using the company WiFi or my hotspot (phone); but neither one connects lately. Using my hotspot at home or another site works just fine, but not a work. Any ideas?

Incidently, I have no trouble connecting with other web sites, even Google.com; just can’t get to GMail.

Company WiFi most likely uses a router that your company controls – it’s a simple matter to block all of the common external email providers if you think doing so will make your employees more productive. Perhaps your company has done this?

When your phone is in hotspot mode, is it connected to the company WiFi or to a 3G/4G service? Is it a company-provided phone with a MDM installed?

No, it is not a company phone. When providing WiFi it is receiving data from T-Mobile. Again, works fine at home!

You’re using a laptop, correct? Is it dockable? Are you connecting to monitors (and maybe a hidden ethernet network)?

What sort of error message do you see when you try to connect to mail.google.com?

Can you do it at work on your phone?

      cheers, Paul

When at work, try disconnecting your phone from wifi, forcing your phone to use 4G. Can you get Gmail now?

      Paul and Vincenzo,
Yes, I was able to access GMail on my phone, whether on T-Mobile data or work WiFi. The only problem was with the laptop. However, this morning I started off using phone as hotspot and had no problem with access from laptop. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what the error message was. I was hoping to find out today.
      Thanks for all your help.
