    Hello !

I’m on Win 11 22H2 and I don’t know why but windows updates no longer offers me cumulative updates since January, only the .Net, microsoft Defenders and the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.

My last cumulative update installed is the KB5033375 in December.

Do you know what is my problem ?

      Download WuMgr and run it.
Click on the Search icon (round arrows).
      Do you see any updates?

      cheers, Paul

      • #2662834

Hello Paul and thank you for your answer !

Try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

Failing that, follow these instructions to do a reset of Windows Update…

Ok OldNavyGuy I’ll try that later today, thanks.

How can I un hide an update ?

How can I un hide an update ?

      Use Microsoft’s wushowhide, WUmgr…

    • #2663387

      Hello Alex.

I use Wushowhide but it doesn’t show me the update that I hid two days ago, I don’t understand why.

      • #2663409

Note that to see the updates that are hidden in wushowhide, you must choose show hidden updates. To see those updates that can be hidden, choose Hide updates.

To see all updates, you first choose Hide…, then restart wushowhide and choose show… Yes, its user interface is clunky.

Ah yes thanks Phil it worked !

So I tried the Windows Update Troubleshooter and nothing changes.

I will try the reset but I must admit I’m a little worried because I can’t do an image of my drive. How much is it risky ?

Do you think intalling the 23h2 version could fix my problem ?

    • #2663998

I can’t do an image of my drive.

That’s not good…for several reasons (ransomware, drive failure, update going sideways, etc.)

      Why not?

How much is it risky ?

Every change to a system involves some risk.

For this operation, at the least, I would create a System Restore point…however, it is not recommended as a “safety net” for all situations.

      https://www.howtogeek.com/220/use-system-restore-on-windows/

Do you think intalling the 23h2 version could fix my problem ?

      It could…

However, I personally would image my drive first…before installing 23H2.

      Your call.

When I had PC with the OS on an HDD I used to clone it regularly but since I switched to SSD for the OS I lost the habit of doing so.

And I don’t have a blank SSD/HDD right now to do it.

        • #2664207

Do a full disk Image of the drive instead of cloning.

When you clone, the clone requires the whole destination drive.
If you do a full disk IMAGE, you can have multiple images on the same drive. So you only need as much space on the destination as the compressed image. To restore the drive, you make a bootable rescue USB, boot from it, and restore. But an added advantage is, you can mount the image and retrieve any data (a file, folder, etc) you need.

Ok I will try to do that this week end.

      Thanks !

Hi “Marvel Wars”, have a Dell Latitude 7420 with Win 11 Pro installed, and had similar issues (since Nov. CU, the last one recorded) updates would install, .Net and other showed up in the Windows Update history, but no CUs since Nov. 2023.  Decided to manually download from Microsoft update site (not using the right name) April’s Win 11 CU and it reported back that it was already installed.  This is one of those scenarios, the updates pulled up / installed / rebooted with no issues this past several months and it was just me being anal that discovered the Update history wasn’t right in mid-April.

So far, out of the 50 + machines we managed on an on-premise domain, I’m the only one experiencing the issue.

Needless to say, I’ll be watching May’s updates very carefully and see if my hypothesis of it being a Windows Update reporting issue holds or not.  I likely won’t know the results till the end of May, as I try to avoid updating till at least a couple of weeks after the latest patch Tuesday has gone by.

      Take care,

      IT Manager Geek

Interesting, so it could just be an Update history problem.

        Do you have 22H2 or 23H2 ?

        • #2665058

Thanks to Deimon for reminding, and my well deserved face palm moment, to finding out that I have 22631.3447 installed and to “Marvel Wars” question I have 23H2 (that part took me longer than I expected to collaborate, as I didn’t want to presume further).

And with Deimon’s follow up, yes we’ve proven that in my situation (working on the machine now) it’s an Update history problem.

Hopefully I saved both “Marvel Wars” and myself some future time and get on to bigger issues (as to which there’s no shortage of).

          Take care,

When you run the winver program, if the build number matches that month’s number (it is in the title of the KB article for each cumulative update), IMO that means all is ok.

      https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/april-9-2024-kb5036893-os-builds-22621-3447-and-22631-3447-a674a67b-85f5-4a40-8d74-5f8af8ead5bb

So if your build number in winver is currently 22621.3447 then you are ok.

        Hello Deimon !

My build is 22621.2861 so I’m not ok :C

The reason why I asked IT Manager Geek which version he had it’s because I think I have this problem since I hid the 23H2 update and I’m wondering if there’s a connection.

      a Windows Update reporting issue

What WU Update report are you referring to?

I run this PowerShell command for a quick look…

      Get-Hotfix | Sort-Object InstalledOn

I think I have this problem since I hid the 23H2 update

Are you sure you have just hidden 23H2 and not disabled Windows update ?
How did you hid 23H2 ?

Hello, my update on the only workplace example, that I’m aware of, is that the Settings > Windows Update > Update History shows that my last CU was back in Feb. 2024 and .Net updates afterwards, though I’ve confirmed that KB5037771 did install (upon turning it on this morning – waiting till the end of the month, I did see it go through the “update” motions before it would allow me to login) by checking the Windows 11 version #.

And thanks to #OldGuyForum the Power shell command does show that KB5037771 did install this morning.

Hopefully #Marvel Wars will provide an update from their end.

      Take care,

P.S.  A ha ha, Settings > Windows Update does offer the 2024-05 Cumulative Update Preview, which is a no thank you from my perspective.

        Hello !

Sorry I didn’t give any news, I still haven’t had a cumulative update for may and I haven’t had the time to make an image but I bought an HDD and tomorrow I think I will be able to do it.

I will first try to install 23H2 to see if it change anything.

    • #2678478

I just installed 23H2 so now I’ll wait for next week to see if I get the cumulative update.

    • #2682347

      Hi !

      It worked !!

      I have KB5039212.

    • #2694008

First thing I’d try is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Sometimes it can clear up update problems. If that doesn’t work, check if your update settings are set to pause updates or if there’s any specific update policy applied.

        Hello WSRRCinci  !

Thanks for your answer ! However like I said in my previous post, I fixed my problem by installing 23H2 in June 🙂

      Hello there !

Well it seems that win update is starting to act up again.

It shows no cumulative nor even .net update for august.

I tried with WuMgr and strangely it detects the updates so I downloaded and installed them without problem.

But even after that they still don’t appears in the win update history.

    • #2702465

But even after that they still don’t appears in the win update history.

      Check under uninstall updates.
WUmgr doesn’t always update ‘update history’

    • #2702473

      Yes they appear thanks !

I don’t understand why I have this problem with win update, it’s annoying.
