GuestAugust 31, 2016 at 5:00 am #36335I agree. Here on Win7 I had installed KB3177225, learned about the printing issue, discovered here at askwoody (bravo!) the “RSS trick” to download the issue fix KB3187022 right from Microsoft’s Catalog servers, downloaded it and went for a thought or two. I decided to remove KB3177225 rather than to fix it with KB3187022 on the basis that “wait and see” is a better option than “take a chance, Jack?” given the uncertainty of Microsoft’s chaos.

https://support.seagullscientific.com/hc/en-us/articles/225047808
“Microsoft has released an update that addresses the issue for Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2008 R2. An update for Windows 10 is still pending; we will update this page as soon as it is available. You can find more information about the update in the Microsoft article KB3187022. The update can be obtained from the Microsoft Update Catalog.”
https://www.combit.net/en/reporting-tool/forum/t9640/!!-printing-problems-with-list-label-since-mi/
“according to Dan Mattson (Microsoft) a bugfix is available (earlier than expected), at least “for some platforms”. (As it seems, Windows 10 Anniversary Update is not covered by this fix.)”
I think it’s important to note that neither site has acknowledged the re-issue of the KB 3187022 patch (for Vista, Win7 and 8.1) on Aug. 30th. Microsoft hasn’t said if you need to re-install it.
The whole thing’s a botched-up mess.

If KB3177725 freezes print jobs and KB3187022 is an update to fix but only available on Microsoft Update Catalog what is the web address for Microsoft Update Catalog in IE? I use Google but I don’t have Rss solution so can’t use Google to find fix update. I don’t know enough about computers. I just need simple help to find the update and get it downloaded and installed. My head hurts from all of this mess! I’ve never downloaded from the MS Update Catalog before so I need help. I guess I’ll use Internet Explorer to find and download the KB. Hope it downloads to where I can find it or will it automatically download and install it when I download it from MS Catalog?

ManagerSeptember 6, 2016 at 5:34 am #36347Assuming you’re using Win7… there’s no reason to install KB3187022 unless you’re having specific problems with the double-printing bug. Some software packages (e.g., barcode printers) have the problem; many corporate “line of business” apps have the problem. If you haven’t hit the problem, don’t sweat it.
You can use Chrome to find the update. Just click this link:

GuestSeptember 6, 2016 at 10:49 pm #36350Woody, I am relieved to say I do not have the print issue. However, the link you provided to me returns the following message. It does not take me to Microsoft Update Catalog for download. After this message below a ton of script appears. Am I missing something in how to access it?
“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.”

ManagerSeptember 7, 2016 at 6:06 am #36351No, you’re doing fine. The link you want is at the beginning of the list.
My guess is that you’re using Chrome. If you are, and you want to see a formatted list, install the extension called “RSS Subscription extension (by Google)”
Folks who use Firefox see the formatted list automatically. I think.
