AskWoody Loungermy new computer is a 7020 Dell PC with 8GB memory 500GB HHD. I really don’t care about the spieing. Never heard of anyone being hurt by their info collection. I have not had to set up a computer for 13 years so it is going to be a trial for me.

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 3, 2019 at 12:00 pm in reply to: Countdown to End7: Win10 nudges Win7 out of first place, becomes most-used internet platform by a smidgen #243963I am using a 2009 HP 6000 series PC with 1TB HHD,6GB Ram and Win 7 SP1 Home Premium with NO SPYWARE on it . WIN 10 is absolutely loaded with spyware (just about every update). One cannot avoid them and the Gov’t being live in your domain. Us old persons can’t always learn new tricks so we will loose out.

AskWoody LoungerI have the same sluggish problem. I am running a 2009 HP Pavalion P6000 series with a 1TB HHD, and Win 7 Home Premium 64bit, AMD quad core processor, 6 GB Memory. Is there no clear cut answer?

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 26, 2018 at 9:48 am in reply to: Weird hibernation state on reboot attributed to Win7 patches #170497I am in group B and installed the security only update on my OLD win 7 AMD machine and have had none of the afore stated problems. It must be embedded in the monthly rollup only. As to the MS attitude toward Win 7, they put the half baked updates out and we can take it or leave it.

AskWoody LoungerIt would be great if you posted what security suite you are using! My Norton Premium doesn’t have that.

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 17, 2018 at 2:32 pm in reply to: Could somebody please explain the new Win7 and 8.1 Meltdown/Spectre “unbootable” AMD patches to me? #159969MrBrian, PKCano , Woody and others: I have a HP p6520y Desktop with (4) AMD Athlon II X 4 635 Processors and 6 GB RAM, running the original October 2009 Win 7 SP1 x 64 System . I have had no BSOD’s, or any other related problems, yet the updates to remedy the AMD processor problem appeared on Windows update as important. Hope this bit of info helps rather than muddies the water.

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 10, 2018 at 6:45 am in reply to: Risk Based Security brings some sanity to the Meltdown debacle #158091Since we are on Defcon 2, I keep the 3 Diagnostics disabled plus update disabled. Been doing this for last 9mons. Only enable when I check for updates and I pick and choose updates I need (Group B).

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 10, 2018 at 6:35 am in reply to: Risk Based Security brings some sanity to the Meltdown debacle #158088To the common everyday desktop user (2009 Win7 SP1 x64) – what is the danger – using AMD with R440 motherboard?

AskWoody LoungerI, too, have had a relatively smooth run with my windows 7 sp1 x64 home premium desktop. The only problems I hanve had were caused by me, not MS. Although, MS has made it very difficult to pick and choose updates.

AskWoody LoungerThose are just a few questions that I, personally have. I, for one, use my desktop computer for everything. I do have an android motorola G4 phone and it is in use most of the time. Desktop runs: windows 7 sp1 x64 home premium 2009 model, and my phone runs the latest Android Nuegat 7 OS.
