Patched up through the last patches that rolled out in Jan. ’20 so should be good to go with 0Patch. Thanks for all of the advice. Win 7 Pro, x 64, SP1, i7-Core “Haswell”, was a Grp. A patcher

Still remaining a Win 7 warrior. Seeking advice for which version of 0 Patch is best for a home user; the free version or the purchased version with added on features?

    • Installed in the following order as offered: KB4534310, restart, KB4535102, restart, KB890830, no restart. Check updates once more, KB4536952 2020-01 SSU offered, downloaded and installed with no restart. So long Win 7 Updates. But not “so long”to  Win 7 just yet; I plan to run it for awhile. Where does one sign up & pay for the 0patch?  Win 7 Pro x64, SP1, Grp. A. i7Core “Haswell”, HP ZBook

    • in reply to: MS-DEFCON 5: Get your systems patched #2077219

Downloaded and installed in the following order: 2019-12 KB4530734, reboot, (which seemed to take an extraordinary amount of time, but was probably really around 20 minutes), then KB890830, no reboot. Checked updates again and KB4531786, Dec. SSU, showed up so downloaded and installed,  no reboot. Update did not offer me Dec. SSU until after KB4530734 and KB890830 were installed.  Win 7 Pro x64 SP1, i7Core “Haswell”, Grp. A, HP ZBook

Checked updates, KB4525235, 2019-11 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Win 7 x 64 popped up. Downloaded, installed and rebooted successfully. Checked updates again and am now offered KB4523206, 2019-11 SSU for Win 7 x 64. I previously installed KB4516655, 2019-09 SSU Win7 x64 on 11/06/2019. What’s with another SSU popping up? • in reply to: MS-DEFCON 4: It’s time to get patched #2000474

I fell in between not installing the September updates & waiting on October. When Woody raised the DEFCON to 4 I ran check for updates; the September updates and KB4474419 were there. I installed KB4474419, ran check for updates again and the October Security Monthly Quality Rollup, KB4519976 & SSU KB4516655 were there. Downloaded and installed KB4519976, took an extra long amount of time to restart, 15-20 mins. Then downloaded & installed KB4516655, SSU, which downloaded & installed without a restart. Thanks Woody & team for the help in muddling through the morass. Win 7 Pro x64, SP1, i7-Core, HP ZBook

    • So when you went to DEFCON 3 the other day I checked what MS was offering me for Sept. –  KB4514602, KB4516065, & KB4474419. Thought I would hold off for a couple of days before installing & didn’t do anything. Now what? Stand down? Win 7 Pro, x 64, SP1 Intel, i7core, HP ZBook

    • Rechecked what vers. of Norton Anti virus I’m running; it updated to vers. 22.18.0.222 Aug. 20. Norton says good to go for Win 7 MS updates. However, I’ll wait for DEFCON 3 or higher.

    • Waiting, waiting, waiting. Installed the March SHA v1 & Service Stack update back in early April.  Norton Anti Virus vers.22.18.0.123, Win 7 Pro SP1 x64, Intel Core i7, HP ZBook 17 with new (3 months) Samsung SSD. Ditto “safe than sorry”.

Thanks Woody and the rest of the crew. I found this site after buying & using as a reference Woody’s “XP for Dummies” back in the day until the book was dog-earred! The advice and info. here is invaluable for me, a home user who just wants things to “work” without too many headaches. Win 7 Pro, SP1 (& hanging in with Win 7 as long as feasible.)

    • KB4499164, KB4499406 & KB890830 downloaded and installed slick and quick with a shiny new SSD on a 5 year old ZBook. As is my customary practice, patches applied/rebooted individually. All tickety-boo so far. Thanks Woody and all the MVP’s for the timely heads up. Win 7 Pro, x64 SP1, i-7core “Haswell” Grp. A.

    • “Run studies” was checked by default; add-ons were restored. I don’t have more than a half dozen add-ons. Running FF 66.0.3, Win 7 Pro x64 SP1
