AskWoody PlusThanks to both PKCano and n0ads.
Yeah, I got the KB wrong, but these answers helped (I have .NET 4.8.1). I have not noted any problems thus far.
I was looking for the “Preview” number to uninstall as I do not want any “Previews”!
I am still trying to figure out why it proceeded as I had hid that (with the wushowhide process).
Moving on…
Thanks again.

AskWoody PlusJuly 26, 2023 at 6:48 pm in reply to: How to uninstall a Cumulative Preview for .NET framework #2576001Susan,
Many thanks.
I did find 5028013, though in the Update History the “Cumulative Preview for .NET framework…” is numbered 5028412. 5028015 was not shown.
I uninstalled 5028013, but am still confused as to what 5028412 actually is and whether or not I should uninstall it as well!?
And I appreciate your super fast reply!Gunny

Thanks.
I do have metered on, as usual, though when I set PAUSE to RESUME, then immediately run wushowhide, updates begin before wushowhide gets started!?!?
Having never done it, I am not sure what the process is to clear WU cache and when to employ.
Note that I have been using your sequences to do updates and have been for about 2 years now.
Appreciate your help!Gunny

AskWoody PlusPKCano,
Thanks!
I actually thought about it after I wrote that I used an enablement package for the first time! Two different methods but I was looking for the “same” result.Still learning,

AskWoody Plusalejr,
I do show the same in the “Uninstall an Update” section.
I was referring to the “Update History” section where I show my feature updates from 1909 to 21H2, though not the 22H2 update. I should have stated that more clearly. Thanks for the help and head’s up!

AskWoody PlusDeo,
I used the enablement package Sunday. My PC was at 21H2 and after using the enablement package my PC shows I am now at 22H2. I have not found any PC problems so far, except for the peculiarity (i.e. not a real problem) of not showing the feature update in the “Update History” section, as I previously mentioned.
Per the above, I do not think there would be a problem for you going to 22H2 from 21H2 via the current enablement package. Of course, make a good backup first!

AskWoody Plusalejr,
The first time I have used an enablement package and it worked fine! Thank you.
Though I wonder why it does not show up as a feature update when viewing update history (as 3 previous feature updates have shown)??? Just to be a “noodge”, would you know why?
Again, thank you!

AskWoody PlusI have tried InControl. It does not offer Win 10, 22H2.
I have followed all directions with no success.
When I run InControl, the lower left says “10 22H2”, then I “Take Control” and Exit.
I then release the Pause function, but do not get the “feature update” as I expected. When I tried, I only got 21H2 updates!
I am obviously missing something or doing something incorrectly and would appreciate any assistance/advice.I have Win 10 Home, 21H2.
I have Metered set to ON. I also have the registry changes defining Win 10 and 22H2.Gunny

AskWoody PlusIt was indicated that update KB5014032 (servicing stack update) was not necessary since it is included in the Cumulative update.
After I updated (without seeing a KB5014032 listed using wushowhide) I saw that a servicing stack update was installed, though it is designated as 10.0.19041.1704.
I do not know how to (if applicable) “convert” to a KB number!
I use Win 10, 21H2.
A little help requested.
Thanks,

AskWoody PlusI use Win 10 Home, 21H2 on an ACER laptop that is 1 year old.
Using “DotNetVersions.exe” I get the exact same output as cmar6’s input #2442094. So, I have “classic” .NET version 4.8.04084 as the latest.
I do not get runtimes using Command Prompt and running as Administrator. I get an error message that “dotnet” is not recognized.
There are no references to “.NET” updates in Update History”. When updating I have only seen “.NET Previews” and I never update “Previews”.
Do I have the latest and correct .NET version?
Do I need to obtain further input to find out the runtimes present?
Can someone explain why I do not see any “.NET” listings in Update History? Thanks,
Gunny -

AskWoody PlusThanks to all for the input.
I was finally able to get back to it and all went well.
Again, thank you!

AskWoody PlusMy question is this:
Susan’s recommendation for registry entries is different from what I have been using and I would like to know if my method (originally from PKCano) is OK? The method uses this line:HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate /f /v TargetReleaseVersionInfo /t REG_SZ /d 21H1
I have changed versions (1909 to 2004 to 20H1) using this line and I simply changed the version number at the end of the line.
I am not a regedit guru and would appreciate your comments!
Thanks,

I really feel like a dunce now!!!
My only excuse is being Microsoft paranoid.I’ll try to pull my head out next time, or watch SOAP to clear my brain.
Thank you.

AskWoody PlusPKCano,
Another anomaly for me to get advice on…
In the update process this month I Hid the Cumulative Preview for version 2004. Continued the process then verified the updates through History. History showed that the Cumulative Preview was installed?!?! I went to uninstall the update and it appeared to be accomplished. After I rebooted, I re-checked History and that Preview still appeared as installed (listed as installed this date)!!! When I went, again, to uninstall the Preview, it was NOT present!?!?
Which do I believe…History Screen or the Uninstall screen?
Thanks,
Gunny
