AskWoody PlusDecember 7, 2022 at 5:31 pm in reply to: 6000013 – Registry keys and commands to extend roll back period #2504269alejr,
Thank you. Can you help with the rest of the question?
What I am concerned about is keeping Windows 11 at bay. When exactly can I extend the roll back period? Could I download the registry key now for future use if needed?
Thanks.

Never mind. I just downloaded the registry key, I guess you can do it anytime, and next to 0000003c is (60) just like you said.
Thanks again.

AskWoody PlusDecember 7, 2022 at 5:06 pm in reply to: 6000013 – Registry keys and commands to extend roll back period #2504257I am currently on Windows 10 Home 21H2. Yesterday I installed Susan’s registry key to receive to stay at Windows 10 22H2. So far it has not happened even though the computer checked for updates when I got on early this morning and I checked midday. I don’t have anything set to block it, I just use pause to block updates until this site gives the OK. I am sure it will arrive eventually.
update 12/7/2022 5:30pm Just used link from another post to download 22H2.
I have Windows 10 22H2 now.
What I am concerned about is keeping Windows 11 at bay. When exactly can I extend the roll back period? Could I download the registry key now for future use if needed? Also how does [“UninstallWindow”=dword:0000003c] extend it for 60 days? I don’t see the 60, do I add that?
Thanks.

AskWoody PlusSusan,
I used your registry changes to stay at Win10 21H2. I got it from here.

Click here to install the Registry key to install to stay on Windows 10 21H2
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
“TargetReleaseVersion”=dword:00000001
“ProductVersion”=”Windows 10”
“TargetReleaseVersionInfo”=”21H2”
Can I use this one to allow Windows 10 22H2 now?

I am on Windows 10 21H2 Home. I would also like to block Windows 11 for as long as possible. If I use the registry key to install 22H2 (above) will this also block Windows 11?
Thanks.

AskWoody PlusOctober 26, 2022 at 9:45 am in reply to: Internet Working but can’t access MS services because “no internet” #2492179A couple weeks ago there was a problem with Microsoft Account Sign in Assistant. Check Services and see what its status is.
I was getting a bunch of errors in Event Viewer from Modern Deployment-Diagnostics-Provider and the only way to stop it was to disable Microsoft Account Sign in Assistant.
Some apps need it I think.

AskWoody PlusSo I followed Microsoft instructions to use Control Panel>Programs and Features and selected Microsoft Office 2019 and chose “change” then “quick repair” and what ever the problem was got fixed.
Never would I ever have imagined something that simple would work. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AskWoody PlusOctober 5, 2022 at 2:35 pm in reply to: Amazon suddenly asking for account verification with every sign in attempt #2485732Wish that you were correct but the texted link from Amazon arrived seconds after I clicked “view or manage order” button in the order confirmation email and at the same time an email verification was also sent to my gmail account.
I think the texted link came from Amazon.

AskWoody PlusOctober 5, 2022 at 11:21 am in reply to: Amazon suddenly asking for account verification with every sign in attempt #2485666Amazon texted link instead of one-time passcode
I am used to various sites texting a code number to enter on the sign in page for two step verification. No problem.
Amazon has never asked for this when I sign-in with my desktop on the usual sign in page. I just enter email and password and my account opens.
Today I happen to click on a link on an email from Amazon notifying me they received my order. I wanted to check something about the order. Instead of signing in on my desktop I just clicked the link on the email for “view or manage order”.
Amazon did not text me a one-time passcode as their site clearly explains will happen with two step verification. Instead, I received a link with the helpful instruction to just tap the link on my phone. First, I don’t click links on my phone as I think that is dangerous. Second, I do not access the internet with my phone. I send and receive texts and I send and receive phone calls. That’s it. I could tap the link all day and it would not work.
So, I just signed in with my desktop as usual. Viewed my order. Got the info I needed and all was well.
Much later I discovered when they sent the link by text, they also sent an email and I guess I could have confirmed verification by clicking the word “Approve” on the email.
But here’s the thing. Amazon says they will text a one-time passcode but instead they texted a link. I think they should do what they say they are going to do. The instructions on their website about receiving the passcode by text and entering the number in the box provided on the sign-in page is false information. That is not what happened.

AskWoody PlusFound the problem. Should it happen to anyone else here is the fix.
Check Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant Service status
Ensure that Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant service is not disabled in Windows Service Manager. It should be set to Microsoft default which is Manual – and it should be started. If not click on the Start button.
That’s it. I do not know how it became disabled. I did not do it and I can’t imagine changing privacy settings would disable Microsoft Account Sign in Assistant but somehow it became disabled. I don’t know how it happened.
I set it to manual and started it and I can sign in to Microsoft Store, Office 2019 apps and Windows 10 (probably, I’m still afraid I won’t be able to get back to my local account and decided not to try.)
Thanks everyone for your efforts in my behalf.

AskWoody PlusWhen I enter my user name and password I get the window above. I don’t recall ever getting that before. When I skip entering the password I just get demand in red letters to enter password and go no where.
On the sign in window after I enter my user name the next widow offers other ways to sign in and I chose email and got a code but that too only got me as far as the above window which does not accept any password I have been using. And now they don’t work.
I found this which may not apply. It is a problem with an update for Windows 11 21H2.
I have Windows 10 Home 21H2. But it is similar.
I have resumed updates and restarted my computer in case it might help for now.

AskWoody PlusThank you, I tried that after first trying repair I reset Microsoft Store. It did not help.

I cannot sign in to Microsoft Account with Windows 10, Microsoft Store or any Office 2019 apps.
