Some of you may find this useful. Not only can you continue to use MSMoney, but it will also convert old Quicken files to Money.

I hope you all get a chance to try Sandboxie-Plus.

Because I was bored this morning, I installed a piece of software through Sandboxie-Plus (just ran the setup file) and then ran the installed program, again, through Sandboxie-Plus. I knew the program was very scammy so it was fun to see it trying to do it’s shenanigans but it couldn’t hurt anything. Fun times! I really do need a hobby.

      Attention everyone.

If you are installing AbleWord on Windows 10 or 11, you must allow the install of Microsoft .NET when Windows prompts you during the install.

Did Deanna forget to mention this in the article? Yes she did.

      Oopsies and sorry.

That is Windows prompting to install the required version of .NET if you have windows 10 or 11. This must be allowed for the program to work.

If your Microsoft winget is out of date, do this:

Right-click your Start Button and open Powershell Admin or Terminal Admin.

Type the following and then hit ENTER.

      winget install wingetcreate

      Let it finish the install.

      Alex,

The whole purpose of this article was to fill the gap for SUMo going away.

October 23, 2023 at 11:50 am in reply to: Hard-drive imaging โ€” AOMEI Backupper Standard #2596436

WinPE is just the vehicle to get you access to your hard drives and run the portable Backupper. They are getting the same copy as what you or I can download from Microsoft. They even have the download option to get it yourself.

It does not matter the version since you are simply applying an image from a file to a drive.

If you are worried about China, worry about all of your Chinese hardware you are using to respond here. AOMEI has been around a very long time and has a clean track record. I am not going to fault them because of where they were born. They have a good, clean and reliable product. I stand by them.

      October 11, 2023 at 7:15 pm in reply to: Uninstalr โ€” โ€œWorldโ€™s best cup of coffeeโ€ #2593448

Hi all. Well, it seems that Uninstalr has some needed fixes before it’s ready for prime time. I am going to pass this all along to the author.ย  If you can give him a hand and let him know what kind of issues you have had with Uninstalr, I think it would be very helpful to him. Here is the support forum: https://jv16powertools.com/discuss/public/t/uninstalr

I originally tested this program on our usual Windows 10 test machine and on our Windows 11 test laptop with no issues. I still have not been able to reproduce any of the issues since this article came out, but as a precaution, we are going to be disabling the listing on OlderGeeks.com. Perhaps we’ll give the author a chance to sift through the long list of complaints and come out with a fixed version..

I deeply apologize for any issues Uninstalr has caused you.

Send us an email at thegeek@oldergeeks.com so we can do whatever we need to do to help you get back up and running.

      Sincerely,

      DeannaOlderGeeks.com

August 14, 2023 at 7:11 am in reply to: Folder Size Analyzer โ€” What’s using up your hard drive? #2580898

It is actually a just portable installer. It’s just dumping all of it’s needed files into a single folder. This folder can be moved anywhere. You can also just select a different location during “install” such as a flash drive.

There is an uninstall process but it’s just deleting the folder.
