There is an update to TweakPower which might fix some issues a few of you were having.

I would start by checking your computer for malware that may be hijacking your downloads. TweakPower has a perfect VirusTotal score and a clean bill of health from Malwarebytes. The author also confirmed this. The only thing that may or not be on your computer was already there before you ran this program. It was tested on 5 of my systems and several of our editors computers. Kurt Zimmerman is a hard working, generous and talented guy. Let’s be sure of these types of allegations before dragging his hard work through the dirt.

      Program opening in German?

We been getting messages about this. It happens when you are either in Germany, using non-tracking software, do not have location services on or you’re near a steamy plate of Struddle. ๐Ÿ˜‰
The program detects what country you are in to use the correct language. It defaults to German if it can’t figure it out (Author is in Germany). Click OPTIONS in lower left and change to English in the program.

Doing an upgrade right now on a customer’s computer. After upgrading the driver with the newest version,ย  (5 times) still being blocked. Think there is a glitch. Hitting REFRESH in notification Window does nothing. Rebooting does nothing even though I rebooted after each attempt at installing driver. Driver installs fine and shows it’s updated.

The portable version on Piriform is not truly portable. This means it does some writing to the system that could be used for future (who knows) use. The ccPortable program uses PortableApps’ wrapper to keep it totally portable and contained. I would hop over to OlderGeeks.com and download and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from the top 10 list. Never hurts to be sure. -Deanna

The Piriform (aka Avast) version has never been truly portable. It’s the ability to write to the system which has allowed them to bundle adware and such. The PortableApps wrapper prevents this and makes it totally portable. So it is different.

We have tested the file and Yandex is the only scanner that detects this. As those of you who use VirusTotal on a regular basis, as we do, you are probably familiar with this type of result from a few of the scanners on VirusTotal (Not naming any names. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). The machine we tested the program on uses Vipre Advanced Security, Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Premium. No issues. We also ran it on another computer to make screenshots for the article. This machine has Avast Pro, Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Premium. Still no issues.

Sorry about Nirsoft’s Access PassViewย  tripping Norton’s panic alarm. We removed the file although it is perfectly safe. I hope they don’t do the same to Nirsoft since it is an awesome utility that has been on our site for years. -Deanna OlderGeeks.com

Deanna from OlderGeeks here. We tested it on Windows XP, 7 and 10. 64 bit versions of 7 and 10. It works fine. Randy just forgot to add the 7 to the download. Silly Randy. Btw, I used to be a teacher. Used this baby a lot!

We feel probed. ๐Ÿ˜‰ If you have questions about our site, ask away. We are knee deep in computer repairs at the moment but we will reply when I can. Btw, we pride ourselves in having a site with no scams, junkware and such. Do we use DuckDuckGo for search? Yes we do because it has no ads either. Do we use Google Analytics to see how many visitors we have and how Google is crawling us? Yes we do. Do we use the official Pinterest script so Pinterest users can easily pin a picture? Yes we do. Do we use the official Paypal script to have a donation button? Yes we do. Do we have evil plans to close our store at lunch so we can steal your robot plans? No we don’t. ๐Ÿ˜‰
