I do not wish to have Copilot downloaded to or installed on my Windows 22H2 PC. I used gpedit.msc to investigate the current status. This is my finding.

    gpedit.msc>User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Copilot>Turn off Windows Copilot>Enabled.

Will this prevent downloading and installation of the app? If not, what additional steps are needed?

    Thanks,

Per AKB9000002, what you say that you’ve already done is all you need to do if you’re running Windows 10 22H2 Pro.

If you’re running the Home edition, there are registry edits you can do to achieve the same result, and they can be found in AKB9000001.

Note that both AKB articles include instructions for disabling CoPilot in Edge browser as well.

I’m running Pro, so this is very good news! Thanks for your confirmation.

Take a look at AKB9000002 anyway because disabling CoPilot by using the GPEdit setting you did doesn’t disable it within Edge, only within Windows without Edge running. That’s why there’s a separate section in the AKB dealing with disabling CoPilot in Edge. If you have successfully uninstalled Edge, then this is a moot point.

See #2701189. That doesn’t include the Copilot part of Edge, as I have uninstalled Edge from all my Windows installations.
