AskWoody PlusNovember 25, 2019 at 3:57 pm in reply to: Here’s how to control the upgrade from Win10 version 1803 or 1809 #2011065Woody said: “If you’re running Win10 1803 or 1809 and want to move to version 1903, choose Semi-Annual Channel and 180 days feature update deferral. You’ll end up with a version of Win10 Pro that has a “Download and install now” offer to upgrade to 1909.”
I think he meant: “You’ll end up with a version of Win10 Pro that has a “Download and install now” offer to upgrade to 1903.”

AskWoody PlusNovember 21, 2019 at 4:05 pm in reply to: Qs on Running Windows Defender & Malwarebytes Premium #2009134I have been running Defender and MBAM Premium on two machines for over 1 1/2 years. Defender is registered in Windows Security Center (obviously not MBAM). Everyone seems happy. Malwarebytes “claims” that MBAM 4 is all ones needs. Well it was released a month or so ago and I am waiting for the reviews before I turn off Defender. I have exceptions on both products to prevent inference with the other.

AskWoody PlusNovember 15, 2019 at 5:28 pm in reply to: What we know about the Win10 version 1909 upgrade: Easily managed by most; tricky for some #2006003I am at 1809 pro WIN10. I set feature deferral to 0 days and hid 1909 via wushowhide. Then set it to 60 days and hid 1903. Finally set feature deferral back to 365 days. When I am ready, I will set feature deferral to either 0 and unhide 1909 and install it or 60 days to unhide 1903 and install this one.

AskWoody PlusOne question for people whose machines are at pre-1903. Update to 1903 or go directly to 1909 (of course after Woody gives the OK)? The difference between the two doesn’t seem very large.

AskWoody Plus“should” – has anyone confirmed it?

AskWoody PlusDoes the latest update to 1903 as well as 1909 have the fix for “disappearing deferral dialog” bug?

AskWoody PlusThus are you saying that 1903 and 1909 will continue to exist and get updates after 1909 is released?

AskWoody PlusWill 1909 be a feature update or be a cumulative update to 1903? Another way of looking at it, will 1903 and 1909 exist on separate tracks?
-
sheldon
AskWoody PlusI have the same question. Just wait for 1909 or update? There seems to be some issues, but they don’t seem to effect everyone.

AskWoody PlusOctober 15, 2019 at 2:58 pm in reply to: Second October cumulative updates posted – the “optional, non-security” kind #1982219Under KB4520062 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4520062/windows-10-update-kb4520062:
“Starting with update KB4497934, we are introducing functionality that allows you to decide when to install a feature update. You control when you get a feature update while simultaneously keeping your devices up to date. Feature updates that are available for eligible devices will appear in a separate module on the Windows Update page (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update). If you would like to get an available update right away, select Download and install now. To find out more about this feature, please go to this blog.”
