If the world will wake up one morning and find out that Windows OS has been wiped out, nothing will happen (example : Sony’s network hack that took down all Windows PCs/Servers. People fired up their Mac,iPad,iPhone.. and continued their work for weeks. If the world will wake up one morning and find out that “Linux” has been wiped out, the world will collapse in a heart beat and never recover.

Microsoft causes $Trillion in damages with every Patch Tuesday to users with faulty updates, data lose, crashed PCs, time lose….

AskWoody PlusMarch 6, 2019 at 10:19 am in reply to: Win10 1809 second February cumulative update, KB 4482887, blamed for “crazy” performance drops in some games #338086https://www.ghacks.net has a post regarding KB4482887 :
Enable Retpoline on Windows 10 1809 and Server right now
Microsoft has tested Retpoline, a new mitigation method against Spectre variant 2 (by Google?), on Windows 10 Insider Builds for some time now. The company brought Retpoline to Windows 10 version 1809 by including it in the March 1 cumulative update KB4482887 for the version of Windows 10…
“When all relevant kernel-mode binaries are compiled with retpoline, weโve measured ~25% speedup in Office app launch times and up to 1.5-2x improved throughput in the Diskspd (storage) and NTttcp (networking) benchmarks on Broadwell CPUs in our lab.”
Retpoline is not enabled by default on production devices even though it is included in the March 1 update. Microsoft plans to roll out the mitigation over the course of the coming months…

AskWoody PlusYou know that Microsoft’s new ‘AI’ update system hasn’t been build by Spielberg, so it is not sophisticated enough to send you a notice a week ahead. At least there are options like : notify to download updates in group policy..and schedule update and restart.

Law #3: If a bad guy has unrestricted physical access to your computer, itโs not your computer anymore…That bad guy is Microsoft. While the PC/hardware belongs to the user Windows OS belongs to Microsoft which has full ownership, runs the OS, updates, programs.. alters the OS at will, and has unrestricted access to the computer.
