    • in reply to: Hyperlinks, new tab or same tab? #2228344

When linking to an external site is it better to open in a new tab, or open in the same tab? This forum has a mixture (which is probably the worst option!)

I like a new tab, no need to roll page back, you don’t leave existing site. Presently I right click links and select open in new tab.

I always click open in new tab when including a link on AW.

Do you have a Restore point before update? Corrupt updates have caused these problems in the past.

When launching some applications from desktop icons, a totally different application starts.

Right click on errant desktop icon, select -Properties- then the -Shortcut- tab and see what the icon target is.  It should match the application. Post back results.

      Clicking reply on first post.

    • in reply to: All Topic Replies now go to the bottom? #2213851

Yup, I will do it from first post after this one.

    • in reply to: All Topic Replies now go to the bottom? #2213839

having my reply go directly underneath and a little to the right of the original post I’m replying to.

It has been threading correctly, unless REPLY wasn’t pressed first it would go to the bottom.

Edit Note: I just tested and Replies are nested.

I have read that this patch has been re-issued. How do I know if I have the latest version installed?

KB4551762 was issued on 3/12 as a fix for the SMB-3 vulnerability.

DDN, thanks for taking the time to have a look-see. Were you surprised? Of course you were! First time I saw that while vetting a post I couldn’t hit the Spam button fast enough. The key to reading those is the not so fine print.

      is NOT listed

      Easy to overlook eh?

What you see is unfortunately common among VPN’s. They hide the origin, as such spammers and evil doers use them a lot. Moderators separate the wheat from the chaff, takes time but keeps this forum clean.

This looks bad- so why is wordfence not kicking me off?

Two reasons actually. Moderators recognize your IP and user name (screen name). If you get caught as spam (for a number of reasons) we can see it in the spam folder and pull it out.

As to logging in and get the boot? Not the way it works.

      DDN,

Try THIS site (click opens a new tab) and see what could possibly go wrong with some spam filters. I’m not saying yours is flagged. enter IP and do the CAPTCHA.

I’ll try and discuss this matter with Woody via email correspondence. This situation for a forum platform is not acceptable.

Yes, did that, also called Comcast and they rebooted it from their end.

Okay, next step is to troubleshoot the internet connection. In search window (on desktop) type Troubleshoot

You will see options for settings, click on that and a window like the attached should appear. Use the Find n Fix internet connections.

Pay no attention to the red words in my screenshot, I do not share with Microsoft.troubleshoot

All the lights on her Comcast modem are lit.

Unplug the power line to the modem for 10~ minutes. This will reboot the modem and is the first thing Comcast will tell you to do if you call tech help. Easiest first thing to try.

    • Not the check fraud but phishing fraud nonetheless.

Medicare has sent out email alerts, which I can almost positively say will reach more intended victims than the FBI report. Not that having it in both places is a bad thing 🙂 From my inbox 2020-3-20
